Different worldviews, different interpretations. I’m a diehard Trekkie (so far) all the way to TOS, although I prefer the newer series. I loved it when Carol Kaine’s character in “Star Trek Strange New Worlds” called the Federation of Planets a “socialist utopia”!
You could have mentioned the Space Merchant books by Fred Pohl and Kornbluth. These are classic sci-fi stories that were highly prescient about the course of rapacious capitalism that is practiced by Thiel.

I love sci-fi, though I do support private space initiatives. But that is a skewed and selective vision of sci-fi by Thiel.
